Wye the Oak not.

Wye Oak hailing from Baltimore, Maryland. The band name is a reference to the tree of their home state. They are a two piece band with Jenn Wasner on guitar and vocals and Andy Stack on keys, drums, and backup vocal. This is the title track off their album, Civilian.
I see you, bass line in the guitar part. APPROVE. That voice gives me chills.

Where can you record?

http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2011/06/26/137394444/in-through-the-out-door-turning-abandoned-buildings-into-recording-studios?sc=fb&cc=fp

Whether it be in an abandoned school building, your computer, or the secret lair of a recording studio in Case Library, you have options.

This summer some of the Broad Street Records' members are creating and finishing up EPs. Recording in a frat house near a BU construction site isn't so bad! If we can do it, anyone can.

To all, please have a musical summer.

Serenadgrams '11

Broad Street Records Annual Serenadagrams!

Ah, that lovely time of year where Colgate artists offer up a serenade in places such as Frank Dining Hall... spreading love and embarrassment for all to enjoy.

Local Natives

They have been my obsession since the fall and I think it is time to share them with you:
LOCAL NATIVES.
The band is based out of Los Angeles. I would consider them indie rock, folk. Ah, yes.
Gorilla Manor is one of the most complete albums I've listened to this year. Every song is tantalizing and oh, those harmonies. It just sounds great, catchy. Not much of a critique, or explanation. You'll just have to listen for yourself.

I could tell you to listen to Sun Hands, Airplanes, Cubism Dream.. but I do not want to be bossy or anything of the sort...
